Maintenance Tips in St. Louis, Fenton, & Clayton, MO

Especially on the newer equipment most manufacturers recommend a yearly service to your furnace and A/C. In most cases they want proof that the equipment has been properly serviced in order to keep your warranty valid. However there are some things you (the home owner) can do to help keep your equipment in proper working order.

Maintaining your equipment

  1. Keep the area around your furnace and A/C clear. Watch out for clutter around your furnace and keep plants cut back about a foot or more around your A/C.
  2. Change your air filter on a regular schedule. If you are using the blue once a month air filters make sure you change them once a month. I recommend using the 1" pleated air filters, they usually last 2-3 months and do a more efficient job of cleaning out air particles, pollen and other allergens.
  3. Make sure your A/C unit coil is clean and clear of obstructions.
  4. Be sure your condensation drain is clean and flowing to easily to drain.
  5. Be sure your thermostat is properly fixed to wall and calibrated. You can loose precious efficiency with a bad thermostat cost you $100's of dollars per year.
